Choices can be dangerous sometimes. This evening, the other ARLCs and I got together and figured out March and April duty. Good thing, I am not on duty during spring break. Bad thing, I cannot decided where to go.
Well, the entire spring break is not free. I have already bought my return flight and conference registration to the ACPA/NASPA joint conference, or as they say, "joint meeting" in Orlando, Florida from Friday, March 30 - Wednesday, April 4th. Basically it is a higher education conference for professionals in the higher education field. This year the two higher education organization are meeting together, something of which happens only every 10 years - so this year it's a big deal. It's as if everyone and their mother is going.
I'm excited to go to the pre-conference session, "Next Generation" for people, like myself who are interested in the higher education profession. I hope to get some inspiration and guidance from the session.
I was planning on flying to NYC, but as Tara pointed out to me, I'm just excited to be going on a plane and flying somewhere. Ha! True. ;c)
After the duty swap, I've been thinking about flights and playing around with all of these different combinations. What if I fly out on this day instead or fly into this airport instead. Argh! So time consuming...but I'd lie to say if I didn't enjoy it...
Last night I had my first duty as an ARLC. To be honest, I was quite nervous. Every little sound awoken me from my sleep. I hardly slept at all...and yes, I did get a call at 3.30 AM, but just a noise complaint call from UPD, nothing else. While I was awake, I decided to hang out with my OAs (office assistants), getting to know them a little bit. I did that until 5 AM.
I went home Friday afternoon for the day to get some of my belongings and such and see the family. My last box of items arrived from Oz about a week or so ago. It only took over 2 months to arrive, whereas the suitcase I sent (at the same time) arrived before I got back. Funny.
It's already late, and Monday is starting. Of course, another weekend gone and I haven't done all of my homework for classes. Argh. One thing I did do though was add some life into my room. The only bummer is that things keep falling down, like my Queensland road map.
Well, that is all for now...sorry it's been a while....
